A remarkable story of perseverance that started 15 kilometres off the Fijian mainland and paid off with an NRL debut in his very first season.
Kamikamica pulled on the Storm jersey for the first time in Round 5, coming off the bench in a win over Penrith. His other appearance came up at Suncorp Stadium against the Titans in Round 10.
Those 23 minutes he played in 2017 proved invaluable for his development.
The promising forward spent the remainder of the season featuring heavily as the leader of the Sunshine Coast forward pack in the Queensland Cup. His toughness up the middle and ability to break through opposition tackles became a trademark of his play.
Kamikamica was also selected alongside Suliasi Vunivalu to represent Fiji at the Rugby League World Cup at the end of the year.
Standing at 195cm and 110kg and just 23 years of age, there is certainly plenty of upside which Storm fans can look forward to in 2018.
With a second NRL pre-season under his belt he could well work his way into the prop rotation next season.
