Rugby League fans will again be able to secure the best “value for money” ticket in town when they go on Monday at 10am for the 2018 Telstra Premiership Brisbane Double Header.

Dubbed “Showtime at Suncorp”, the Double Header will feature reigning premiers, the Melbourne Storm against the Gold Coast Titans followed by the Manly Sea Eagles taking on the Brisbane Broncos, on Saturday 12th May, in what will be the marquee match for the NRL’s 2018 Indigenous Round.

From 9am tomorrow (Monday 4th December) until Friday 15th December, fans will be able to purchase at “early-bird” prices, with tickets starting at $14.70 for juniors and $36.55 for adults.

Tourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Officer Leanne Coddington said the match will be one of the pinnacle Rugby League events in Queensland in 2018.

“Queensland is the home of Rugby League and where better to see four quality teams battle it out than at the spiritual home of the game, Suncorp Stadium,” she said.

“Hosting these matches enhances Queensland’s reputation as the home of major sporting events, showcasing the state’s commitment to Rugby League, while also promoting our spectacular destinations and driving visitation.”

Ms Coddington said after the success of the Brisbane Double Header in previous years, she expected strong interest from fans in this blockbuster 2018 event.

“Hosting major sporting events like this plays a crucial part in growing Queensland’s $25 billion tourism industry,” she said.

“I know rugby league fans will enjoy an action-packed Double Header and I encourage visitors to stay on to experience more of what Brisbane has to offer.”

Melbourne Storm CEO, Dave Donaghy said the Double Header continued to be a key part of the NRL season.

“Our Club loves playing in front of our members and fans in Queensland, plus it’s a great opportunity for supporters in Melbourne to travel and enjoy a weekend in Brisbane.

“Suncorp Stadium is one of the best rugby league venues in the world and is accustomed to hosting the big events, the Double Header is one of the key showpieces of the NRL’s Indigenous Round and with two blockbuster games scheduled provides great value for fans,” Mr. Donaghy said.

NRL Head of Football, Brian Canavan said the two Brisbane matches marked an important celebration as part of the annual Indigenous Round.

“There is a strong Indigenous identity within the Brisbane and Queensland communities and we’re expecting that both matches will be well attended once again,” Mr Canavan said.

“Indigenous Round is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the strong diversity within our game and our commitment to the Indigenous community.

“I have no doubt that both matches will once again be entertaining for the crowds, with plenty of Indigenous representation on display both on and off the field.”

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles CEO Lyall Gorman said the Brisbane Double Header was another great opportunity for our Club to play in one of the showpiece events on the Rugby League calendar.

“For the past two years, there have been plenty of Sea Eagles supporters at Suncorp supporting our team, whether they be from our large base of fans living in Queensland, to those members and supporters who travel from interstate for this special occasion,’’ Gorman said.

“Our Club is proud to again be involved in the Brisbane Double Header. The players enjoyed wearing the Indigenous jerseys in the game this year at Suncorp, and we are thrilled that this will happen again in 2018. It is shaping up to be a great day of rugby league and I know there will be plenty of Manly fans in attendance again.”

Suncorp Stadium General Manager, Alan Graham said previous double headers had attracted big crowds with the concept winning the support of fans and clubs.

“We couldn’t host this event without the support of the NRL, TEQ, Brisbane Marketing the participating clubs, Fox Sports and the Courier Mail. We thank them for their ongoing support,” Mr. Graham said.

He said as an added incentive this year, fans who purchase tickets during the “earlybird” window would go into the running to win a 2018 Double Header VIP Experience. Competition details and Terms and Conditions of Entry are at www.suncorpstadium.com.au
