One of the greatest comeback stories of the modern era is about to reach its most exciting chapter.

Just five months since rupturing his ACL, Sandor Earl is now only 2-3 weeks away from returning to full training at Melbourne Storm.

That is 8-10 weeks ahead of schedule.

It has been 1694 days (and counting) since Sandor Earl lan ran onto an NRL field.

However the 28-year-old winger is determined to put his hand up at the business end of the year if an opportunity arises to pull on the purple jersey.

“It’s going to be one hell of a preseason by the time I’m done,” Earl told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“I’m not coming back to ease into it or have a warm-up game ... I’m coming to smash it from the get go.

“If something comes up I want to be the first cab off the rank.”
