Storm centre Curtis Scott and team-mate Jesse Bromwich.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy said centre Curtis Scott was "shattered" in the dressing room after suffering a suspected broken foot following a stunning display in the 64-10 thrashing of the Eels after being recalled to the team.

Scott ran for an extraordinary 262 metres and scored a breathtaking 100-metre try in a performance that showcased his character and great skill.

He was dropped after the round six loss to the Roosters on form and training performances, and has also been battling a personal issue away from the field.

For 59 minutes of Saturday night’s clash at Suncorp Stadium his return to the side was on track to be a triumphant one, before injury struck.

"He is shattered in there at the moment and looks like he might have a broken bone in his foot. He was playing so well," Bellamy said.

Match Highlights: Storm v Eels

"To the kid’s credit he is only young and took the demotion really well. He probably didn’t take it so well at the start, but he didn’t have to tell me what he was thinking. He just had to show me what his response was.

"He got his way back into the team because he was doing the things we needed him to do with the Sunshine Coast and at training.

"He played great tonight, but as you can imagine he is very disappointed with what looks like a reasonably major injury."

Fullback Jahrome Hughes is set to miss Thursday’s clash with Wests Tigers after being knocked out by a high shot from Fijian winger Maika Sivo.

Sivo sin binned for hit on Hughes

The Storm have a ready made replacement in explosive fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen whose dazzling speed and evasiveness off the bench after replacing Hughes was a feature.

"He came on at an ideal time when a guy was in the bin, touched the ball four times and I think we scored four times,” Bellamy said.

"Ryan was outstanding. He has a couple of real good traits and everyone could see one of then tonight and that’s speed. He is only small, and still learning the game without a doubt, but he is a tough kid."

Bellamy said after last week’s loss to the Sharks that he would be looking for new players if his side did not lift is game against the Eels. He got the response he was after.

"I certainly wasn’t looking for that score, but the performance is what we were looking for…and I’m not talking about the 60, I am taking about the 10," he said.

Bellamy confirms broken foot for Scott

"We were much better defensively, much more patient with the footy. I think we have been a bit complacent at times in games, but I didn’t see that tonight.

"We have a lot of Queenslanders in our team so we enjoy playing up here. Will Chambers played his 200th game and is a very important player and part of our club, and he’s played all 200 with us. It was an important day for that."

After scoring 11 tries, and many of them long range efforts, Bellamy said in his time at the Storm he could not remember a game where they scored as many long distance four-pointers.

"The only game I could remember a bit like that was when we played the Warriors on Anzac Day last year when we were something like 30-nil at half-time and everything went our way," he said.

"I am real proud of them. There are some young guys in there but I just wanted them to be more of the Storm team that we have been since the inception of the Storm."
