Melbourne Storm has today added to its backline depth by extending the contracts of two members of its 2020 premiership-winning squad and adding a new outside back.
Explosive Parramatta Eels centre/winger George Jennings has signed on for two seasons while Queensland State of Origin squad member Brenko Lee, who has had a breakthrough season in his first year at Storm, and exciting young playmaker Cooper Johns have inked new one-year deals.
A Tongan international, 27-year-old Jennings ran for 140m and scored a double in his last NRL appearance - Parramatta’s semi-final loss to South Sydney.
He scored five tries from eight appearances for the Eels this year, and two in six games as a loan player with NZ Warriors, to take his career total to 15 tries in 35 games.
Lee, who was nearing the end of a one-year contract with the club, has committed to the end of 2021 after a remarkable career re-birth in 2020.
The 24-year-old made the starting centre spot his own this season and has thrilled fans with his strength and footwork.
He was part of Storm’s grand final run-on team and earned his first selection for Queensland for Origin I before unfortunately having to withdraw due to a calf injury last night.
Johns made his NRL debut in round 15 this year and showed terrific game management skills at halfback. He has also signed with the club until the end of 2021.
