Australia’s largest aviation services provider Alliance Airlines has signed on as the Official Airline Partner of NRL premiers Melbourne Storm for the 2021 season.
As part of the partnership, Storm is using Alliance to fly direct from the Sunshine Coast to Canberra and return for their round 11 clash with the Raiders this weekend.
The charter flights will reduce the travel burden on the playing group during a gruelling month of travel with four matches in a row away from Storm’s Melbourne base.
The partnership was announced at Sunshine Coast Airport today prior to the team’s departure to the nation’s capital.
Headquartered in Brisbane and with aircraft and crew bases around Australia, Alliance Airlines operates charter services across a range of industries, including the resources sector, domestic tourism, and corporate events, as well as providing aircraft and crew capacity to Australia’s major scheduled airlines.
Alliance is also recognised as a leader in providing tailored and customised group travel and individual charter experiences.
Alliance Airlines CEO Lee Schofield said the company was thrilled to be partnering with Storm in 2021.
"Alliance had the privilege of transporting the Storm players and officials throughout the 2020 season, including transporting the players and their families to and from their successful finals campaign," he said.
"We look forward to continuing to support Storm and sharing in their ongoing success on the field in 2021 and beyond.
"Alliance Airlines charter flights allow Storm players and officials to travel non-stop to and from away games and to return home immediately after a game.
We are pleased that the Storm recognise the benefits charter flights bring to the team by both minimising travel time and maximising time available at home for recovery, training and game preparation.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski welcomed Alliance to Storm’s family of partners.
"Our team saw the benefits of using Alliance during the COVID-19 season in 2020 and we’re delighted to have them on board as our Official Airline Partner this season," he said.
"The COVID period has thrown up some enormous challenges for everyone in our community, including interstate travel for sporting teams, but it has also created opportunities like this one where we now have a great new partnership with Alliance.
"I’d encourage all Storm members and fans to have a look at the aviation services that Alliance provides and we look forward to an on-going successful relationship with their team."
