Melbourne Storm will begin the club’s 11th consecutive finals campaign this week, continuing its “Purple Reign” over the NRL finals and chasing a fourth Grand Final appearance in five years.
Launching the club’s finals campaign, Storm CEO Justin Rodski said “Purple Reign” was a nod to those who have helped build the club and set the foundations for its sustained success.
“Storm’s Purple Reign began in the late ‘90s at Olympic Park, which was dubbed the Graveyard because it was the place where opposition teams hated to play,” Rodski said.
“Setting the high standard in those early years and winning a premiership in our second season set a benchmark the club has never fallen far from, but we know it takes a huge amount of work on and off the field to give our team a chance to reach the finals each year.
“The last two years have been extremely difficult for many people across the country.
“We have been fortunate enough to keep playing the game so many people love and maintain those high standards, but this could not have been possible without the support of our members and partners.
“When the finals kick off next week, around 18,000 of our 27,504 members will be watching from home in Melbourne for the second year.
“We hope these members and fans can join our Purple Reign campaign and support our players as they wear the Big V on their chests each week and represent their home state with immense pride.”
Storm partner, Grill’d Healthy Burgers, will be the club’s Official Finals partner this year and will lift the spirits of fans stuck at home with a number of offers to make each game day special.
“The team at Grill’d look forward to fuelling Melbourne Storm throughout their finals series campaign after another remarkable season,” said Simon Crowe, Grill’d Healthy Burgers owner and founder.
Storm’s Official Dietetics and Performance Partner Fuel Your Life have also taken up a new position on the captain’s run and gameday warm-up jerseys throughout the finals while their team of sports dietitians continue to support our players behind the scenes to ensure they are performing at their peak on the field.
