A full 14 match home and away 2022 fixture has been released by Netball Australia today with Sunshine Coast Lightning excited to return to USC Stadium for seven games next season.
The introduction of Foxtel and Kayo as the league’s Broadcast Partner will see a number of benefits for Members and fans, including new family-friendly time slots.
Lightning will open their season against West Coast Fever in Perth on Sunday March 27 from 1pm AWST.
A local Queensland derby will also be a highlight in the opening rounds, set to take place on Saturday 2 April from 7pm AEST - marking the Club’s first home game of the season.
Four back-to-back USC Stadium clashes in May will give fans ample opportunity to support the Lightning team live and in person.
Key takeaways from this season’s fixture include new regular timeslots of Saturday 5pm and 7pm and Sunday 2pm and 4pm to better cater to the community netball audience.
Rounds 4 and 10 will also see mid-week games played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Lightning CEO Danielle Smith welcomed the new fixture and said is excited to see a return to the home and away competition – bringing live netball back to stadiums nationwide.
“There is nothing better than witnessing a Lightning game in front of a vocal capacity crowd and we are excited to welcome netball back to our home of USC Stadium in 2022,” Smith said.
“I’d like to thank the league, clubs and stakeholders for the intense body of work that has gone into producing a comprehensive fixture, given the ongoing sporting environment and contingency planning required.
“The new broadcast arrangement comes with unprecedented opportunity to showcase our sport and our people in a new and innovative way, which we cannot wait to share with you all.
“As a league, we have taken on the feedback from our Members and fans to ensure match days are more inclusive for community netballers and families to attend.
“Our Members and fans have felt the impact of the past two seasons through altered fixtures, crowd restrictions, border closures and lockdowns and we eagerly await Round 2 where we can be reunited, celebrating this elite sport and our amazing athletes together again.”
Netball Australia, Suncorp Super Netball and clubs are working closely with Foxtel and Kayo to maximise the excitement in broadcast throughout 2022 as well as increasing the content offering.
Every game will also be live and ad break-free during live play on Fox Sports. Available on Foxtel and Kayo, with all Sunday games broadcast across Kayo Freebies.
