10 games into his NRL career, Trent Loiero is embracing his start to the 2022 season in purple which has seen him feature in the opening four matches of the year.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Loiero stated his goal leading in to 2022 was to simply to start the season, now, having played all four rounds, his focus will now turn to making the most of the opportunity that has presented itself.

“I had a pretty big pre-season. It was very tough,” Loiero shared.

“I'm pretty happy that I've got to play the first four and I feel that I'm just trying to go out there, do my job, not over do it.”

Traditionally a back-rower, the 21-year-old shared his enthusiasm in gaining experience in the front-row from some key members of Storm’s seasoned forward pack.

“My preferred position is back row and haven't played much in the ruck and that's what I've being coming on and doing, so just trying to improve that role each week, and just keep learning.”

Experienced forwards in co-captains Jesse Bromwich and Christian Welch along with Nelson Asofa-Solomona have provided Loiero strong examples throughout his time at the Club which the 21-year old will hope aid his progression in first-grade.

“They're some of the best Ruckies in the game, so to get to pick their brains and learn off them, it's been good and I'm just looking forward to keep learning off them.” Loiero said.
