Finucane, Hynes Return

For the first time since their departure from Melbourne, Storm are prepared to face guns Nicho Hynes and Dale Finucane when the Sharks travel to AAMI Park on Saturday night.

The now Sharks pair both made their mark during their time in the purple jersey.

Finucane played 152 games for Storm between 2015-2021, being a part of both the Club’s 2017 and 2020 premiership winning teams. The lock went on to secure our 2019 Player of the Year award, alongside being named Co-Captain as successor to Club great, Cameron Smith, in 2021.

Nicho Hynes made his NRL debut with Storm, playing 36 games between 2019-2021. The fullback went on to claim Melbourne’s 2021 Most Improved Player award after an impressive breakout season in first grade.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Finucane shared it will be business as usual when heading back to his former home.

“Obviously, it’ll be exciting to go play down there,” Finucane said.

“The people in Melbourne haven’t had a lot of football in the last two years so it’ll be exciting to go back down there and play again, but for me, it’s just another game.”

With both teams coming off 30-point wins in Round 5 and sitting side by side on the ladder, the face-off is set up to be one to watch on Saturday night.
