To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Melbourne’s 2012 Grand Final win, Storm will wear a replica of the premiership-winning jersey for Heritage Round in Round 18.
The jersey is a near-perfect replica of the original outfit, featuring the exact same shade of purple as the Storm logo at the time, alongside the Club’s much-loved thunderbolts in the form of a ‘V’ as a nod to their home state of Victoria.
Skipper Jesse Bromwich will experience a full-circle moment when the team run out in the jersey in Round 18 against the Raiders at AAMI Park, being the only remaining current squad member to have been a part of the 2012 winning team. His brother Kenny was also part of the squad that same year, but was yet to make his NRL debut.
A significant win for the Club, the homage follows a 2012 Premiership Reunion hosted by Storm earlier in the year, which saw almost all members of the victorious squad come together for an afternoon of celebration and reflection.
“When that final siren goes, there’s a massive sense of relief then you’re just absolutely ecstatic.” Hoffman reflected on his premiership-winning feeling at the Club’s Premiership Reunion earlier this year.
“You’ll always have this bond together, and on these occasions, you remember those moments and those friendships.” Billy Slater also shared at the event.
