The long-term injury to Ryan Papenhuyzen has led to a backline reshuffle for Melbourne Storm for the NRL Round 19 match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Accor Stadium on Saturday night.

Papenhuyzen underwent surgery on his fractured kneecap yesterday and is not expected to return in the 2022 season.

With Storm’s top try scorer for the season unavailable, Nick Meaney will return to the No.1 jersey he has worn on five previous occasions in his first season in Melbourne, while Tyran Wishart has been named to start on the wing for the first time.

Outside back Grant Anderson is set to make his return from an elbow injury on the interchange.

Saturday’s game will be Jahrome Hughes’ 100th in the NRL, with the halfback making 98 appearances for Storm to add to solo games for the North Queensland Cowboys and Gold Coast Titans.
