Xavier Coates – Round 1
Air Coates ready for take-off
Xavier Coates’ first try in the purple jersey was nothing short of impressive, sliding over the line in his Storm debut in Round 1 against the Wests Tigers.
Following a neat set and pass from PNG international Justin Olam, the winger rightfully earned the title of ‘Air Coates’ leaping to put maximum pressure on the Steeden, securing his new Club’s fourth try of the evening in what was a memorable comeback.
Cameron Munster – Round 6
Munster bamboozles Sharks defence
Munster’s effort to secure Storm’s second try of their Round 6 clash against the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks is unmatched. Following a swift pass from hooker Harry Grant and a quick ‘goosey’ ahead of the Sharks 40m line, Munster was away.
After multiple dummy passes, the five-eighth skirts around the Sharks defence with ease and cements the four pointer with a cheeky grin on his face as he slid over the try line.
With his trademark flair, Munster’s Round 6 manoeuvres are up there amongst some of his best in season 2022.
Jahrome Hughes – Round 7
Hughes sprints to go across the line
A pass from Ryan Papenhuyzen inside Storm’s 30m, sets alight halfback Jahrome Hughes in this iconic try from our Round 7 clash against the New Zealand Warriors.
Reaching top speed, which couldn’t be contained by the Warrior's defence, Hughes sprints all the way over the try line untouched.
Running the length of the field alongside Papenhuyzen and Hughes, the Storm ball kid was the highlight of the night amongst fans, adding to an already incredible try.
Nelson Asofa-Solomona & Ryan Papnehuyzen – Round 7
Things you love to see: Big men kicking for tries
Recording 13 tries, Round 7 provided yet another contender for Try of the Year.
Nelson Asofa-Solomona followed his instincts to a tee and dropped the Steeden to his right foot to boot across the field to Papenhuyzen lying in wait. Reminiscent of a Hughes or a Munster, the forward delighted fans with his pinpoint and now iconic kick.
Papenhuyzen went on to leap for the ball and slam it across the line for Storm’s fourth try of the annual ANZAC Day clash.
