Ryan Papenhuyzen has returned to the Melbourne Storm training track with a refreshed and positive mindset for the upcoming season but the fullback is yet to put a date on his return.

“It's hard to tell [about a return date]. The closest answer I can give is at some point this year.”

“We’ve got a pretty important six-week block coming up now to put everything in place that I learnt at Knowles Athletic.

I’m positive about the way forward...had a footy in my hands this morning.

“I probably still won't have an answer after those six weeks. But, I think at some point this year is probably an accurate answer.

“Sorry for all the fantasy managers out there,” Papenhuyzen joked.

After spending two weeks in the US with renowned reconditioning specialist Bill Knowles, thanks to Grill’d.

Papenhuyzen re-joined his teammates at Geelong Grammar today for week two of the annual pre-season camp and believes his learnings will be a benefit to the current rehab group.

“[The highlight was] how refreshed I was, and I think just a different mindset around thinking about an injury or going through rehab. I think that's probably something that I can take back to the group,” the 24-year-old shared.

“I know Liam [Storm’s assistant physio] learnt a lot over there and I know we've got some guys in rehab at the moment that have been doing it for a while.

“I can sort of share my experience of how Bill taught and what sort of lessons you learn...I've got the resources to do that now.”
