Will Warbrick becomes player 225

Storm outside back Will Warbrick will make his NRL debut against the Eels tonight, becoming the 225th player to pull on the purple jersey.

Hailing from Kawerau, New Zealand, Warbrick dabbled in Australian rules football and played the 13-a-side game in high school before switching to union where he was a member of the All Blacks Rugby Sevens squad that was beaten by Fiji in the gold medal game at the Tokyo Olympics.

Standing at 193cm tall and weighing 105kg, the 24-year-old will start on the wing after impressing in Storm’s pre-season trial against the Warriors.

The New Zealand native will be one of three debutants in Storm’s 2023 season-opening clash with Parramatta, alongside Eliesa Katoa and Bronson Garlick.
