As Melbourne Storm gear up to return to Marvel Stadium for Rounds 18 and 22, take a look back at the Club’s record at the harbour town ground.
Formerly known as Colonial Stadium Storm have played 20 matches at the venue over the years, last taking the field on ANZAC Day 2010.
Becoming the Club’s home ground in Melbourne after temporarily taking residency in 2001 to accommodate the growing Victorian fanbase from the much-loved Olympic Park, Docklands has seen 13 wins, six losses and one draw for the team in purple over its 25 year journey.
Playing host to two massive, not-to-be-missed, matches against reigning Premiers Penrith and 2022 runners-up the Parramatta Eels, this won’t be the first time the 50,000 seat stadium sees the New South Wales teams on its field.
Coincidentally, the largest attendance to a Storm game at the venue was the 2007 Preliminary Final against the Eels, where 33,427 members and fans witnessed the men in purple take home a 26-10 win on their way to the premiership.
Penrith are also no stranger to the stadium, having gone up against Storm back in Round 24 of the 2001 season with the home team taking out a close 4-point victory.
Further solidifying itself in the Club’s history books, 2010 saw Storm played their final games in Melbourne before moving into their brand-new, purpose-built home at AAMI Park. Round 4 of that season saw 25,480 supporters descended on what was known as Eithad Stadium, in droves, watching their team celebrate a committed victory over St George Illawarra.
