Olam to charge through 100th game

Justin Olam will celebrate his 100th NRL game when he runs out for Melbourne Storm in their Round 20 clash against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night at the SCG.

Born in Kundiawa, PNG, Olam's rugby league career began with the Unitech Spartans before excelling at feeder level for the PNG Hunters, earning him his first NRL contract with Storm in 2017.

The PNG International’s trademark aggression and physicality has quickly earnt him the tag as one of the game’s most feared defenders, becoming a mainstay of the Melbourne side in recent years after making his debut in Round 9 of the 2018 season.

While the 29-year-old has certainly won over plenty of Storm fans with his fearless running and tackling style, his cult hero status has only continued to grow in his home country, with countless fans in rural PNG tuning in to watch him in action every week.

Having won a Premiership with the club in 2020, the 2021 Dally M Centre of the Year signed on to remain with the Club until 2026.

Featuring in 12 games this season, alongside registering four tries and recording a 124 average run metres per game, Olam shows no signs of slowing down on the first-grade stage.
