Reimis Smith will hit the field for his 100th NRL game on Saturday evening when Melbourne Storm take on the Sydney Roosters in Round 20 at the SCG.
Born and bred in Sydney, Smith began his rugby league journey as a junior with the Mascot Jets before piquing the interest of NRL Clubs and signing with the Parramatta Eels in 2013.
Continuing his development within the Eels NYC team, the Sydneysider went on to sign with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs where he made his first-grade debut in Round 12 of the 2016 season.
Enjoying 49 games with the Bulldogs, the 26-year-old made the switch to Storm at the beginning of the 2021 season, making an appearance in all but one game, scoring 14 tries.
2022 saw the winger selected for his first representative match, named for both the Indigenous & Maori All-Star sides, ultimately representing his New Zealand hertiage and securing the win with the Maoris.
Unfortunately, Round 9 of the 2022 season saw the Centre injure his pectoral muscle, leaving him unable to compete for the remainder of the year. Returning to the purple jersey in Round 1 this year, he’s gone on to appear in every game, scoring three tries, 34 tackle-breaks and maintain a strong 90.1% tackle efficiency.
Extending his contract until 2024, Reimis is sure to continue to develop and make more memorable moments down in Melbourne.
