Trading the footy field for the office

As part of their partnership with the Storm Academy, RedZed has continued to highlight the importance of professional development off the field, recently giving young Academy recruit Matthew Hill the opportunity to trade the footy field for the RedZed offices.

Having starred for Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side this season on the field, Hill has continued his development off it with the opportunity to join the team at RedZed. Storm’s Major Partner has provided the Katherine born 19-year-old a wide range of experiences across several departments of the business so far this year.

Hill gained valuable experience learning from members of the Client Services, Accreditations and Applications teams, while also hitting the road and heading out with the Sales team to meet brokers.

Employment education and opportunities such as these are key for young players like Hill to gain valuable experience in the corporate world as well as help begin to prepare them for life after footy.

RedZed’s Chief People & Culture Officer Deirdre Hosking said Hill made a seamless transition into the RedZed team, crediting his willingness to learn  various aspects of their business.

“Matt has adapted to the office environment with ease and has built strong relationships with many members of our team,” Hosking said.

It has been wonderful to see Matt grow in confidence and take an interest in our business processes and the finance industry as a whole. We have really enjoyed getting to know Matt

The Storm Academy has been a great success in first season, giving future NRL prospects like Hill, the opportunity to learn all what it takes, on and off the field, to become a first-grade player with Storm.

RedZed who have been Melbourne Storm’s Major Partner since 2020, are also a proud partner of the Storm Academy.
