As part of Member Appreciation Round, Melbourne Storm’s dedicated banner crew were paid a visit by a group of Storm players on Thursday night, as they chipped in to help make the banner that will be proudly displayed at the Raiders game on Sunday afternoon.
Thanks to major partner RedZed, the banner crew were gifted their very own custom jerseys as a demonstration of the club’s appreciation, while Storm players Joe Chan, Jayden Nikorima, Jack Howarth, Dean Ieremia, Chris Lewis and Aaron Pene all took part in helping construct the banner that will rise high at AAMI Park.
With Storm celebrating members in Round 24, the crew's dedication and support for the club is unmatched, making a banner for each home game and some members even supporting the club for over 20 years.
Trading the footy for some sticky tape and scissors, players got the chance to give back and rub shoulders with the loyal members that have dedicated countless hours to making the club what it is today.
The unique banners have become quite the mainstay at Storm home games over the years, proudly representing Victoria and displaying messages of support for the squad as they run out onto the field.
Banners acknowledge important rounds like Indigenous Round and ANZAC Day and charities such as the Starlight Foundation while also celebrating player or club milestones.
Fans will be able to see the banner for themselves when Storm run out against the Raiders this Sunday at AAMI Park.
Other initiatives throughout Member Appreciation Round include an Ultimate Members Game Day Experience, with the lucky winner able to flip the coin, clap the boys out in the guard of honour, receive a 2023 team-signed jersey and secure sideline seats for the game.
Storm’s junior members will also be represented with our very own Junior MC and junior mascot taking centre stage and one lucky member set to deliver the game-ball to Cameron Munster for kick off while fan artwork is also to be displayed during the team announcement.
