Storm farewells duo

Melbourne Storm has today bid farewell to George Jennings and Jordan Grant following the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Debuting for the Penrith Panthers in Round 1, 2015, Jennings went on to represent the Paramatta Eels from 2018 – 2019 before spending a year with the Warriors in 2020. He pulled on the purple jersey on 21 occasions between 2021 – 2023, making a total of 56 NRL appearances across his career to date.

His career best season was that in 2021 where he scored 11 tries in 18 appearances and played in the Qualifying and Preliminary Finals. He unfortunately suffered a season-ending ACL in the season opener of 2022 and a medial strain in his second game in the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, Grant was recruited to Storm ahead of the 2021 campaign and has made seven appearances for the club since his debut in Round 18, 2021.

Both Jennings and Grant played an instrumental role for the Brisbane Tigers in its Premiership win over the Burleigh Bears in this year’s Hostplus Cup, the clubs first one since 1991.

Storm General Manager Football, Frank Ponissi, thanked the duo for their service to the club.

“We thank both George and Jordan for what they have brought to the club over their respective three-year stints,” Ponissi said.

“They’re popular members of our group and very well respected with the way they go about their training and preparations, they will be missed members of our club.

“They both probably would’ve liked more opportunity in the NRL, but they certainly put pressure on for spots and were incredible assets for our Feeder Clubs and we’re thrilled they were a part of Premiership glory with the Brisbane Tigers.

“George in particular suffered a bit of a rough run due to injury, but he showed an incredible amount of perseverance in times of adversity which helps drive standards across our club.

“We wish George, his partner Georgia and his son Hunter as well as Jordan and his partner Maritta the very best for what is yet to come.”
