It was an exciting, yet short-lived return to NRL for George Jennings as he rounded out his third and final season in the purple jersey.
After missing the 2022 season due to an unfortunate ACL injury, Jennings begun his return to first-grade through Melbourne Storm’s Queensland Hostplus Cup feeder team, the Brisbane Tigers.
Right off the bat, Jennings’ determination was evident, with the winger going on to score a try in his first game back and doing so in nine of his 15 in-season appearances.
Rounding out his northern season with 13 tries, 60 tackle-breaks, 14 line-breaks, 2,182 running metres – there was no performance more impressive than Round 17 where the 30-year-old racked up four tries, three line-breaks and 12 tackle-breaks alone.
This effort was rewarded with his first NRL appearance for 462 days in Round 16 against the Wests Tigers. Returning again in Round 23 to face the Penrith Panthers, the Western City Tigers junior once again suffered a season-ending injury, this time to his knee.
Jennings departs the club after season 2023 and we wish him and his family all the best for their next chapter.
