Jonah Pezet enjoyed a breakout year in 2023 that saw him handed his NRL debut while also being part of a Premiership winning Easts Tigers outfit that broke a 32-year premiership drought in the HostPlus Cup.
Making the step up from balancing Jersey Flegg and HostPlus Cup duties in 2022, Pezet took his game to a new level this year, with a strong pre-season rewarding him with an NRL debut against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 3.
A memorable try on debut where he raced away to score from just shy off halfway was just a little taste of what Storm fans could expect of Pezet in the season to come, showcasing his great vision and sublime kicking game.
Making seven appearances he had two tries, two goals and three offloads while also playing a big role in those around him, managing five try assists and four line break assists.
With regular halves Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Munster occupying the starting halves role for the majority of the season, Pezet got the chance to flourish for the Tigers, recording one try, 22 goals, three try assists and two line break assists.
Pezet showed he wasn't overawed on the big stage, kicking five key goals that helped the Tigers secure the narrow Grand Final victory.
