Feeder report: Round 14 & 15

Both of Melbourne Storm’s feeder teams triumphed in their respective clashes over the weekend, the Brisbane Tigers and North Sydney Bears both holding on for four-point victories.

In a replica of their memorable Grand Final triumph over the Burleigh Bears last season, the Tigers produced a gutsy 24-20 win over the Bears on the Gold Coast in Round 14 to keep them in the hunt for finals heading into the second half of the season.

Storm Academy product Coby Williamson grabbed a first half double to give the Tigers a strong 20-8 lead at the break, with the Tigers surviving a late scare to hold on for the victory.

Williamson joined former Jersey Flegg teammates Gabriel Satrick, Angus Hinchey and Keagan Russell-Smith as Storm’s representatives for the contest.

Meanwhile, the North Sydney Bears also managed a four-point win of their own over the Newtown Jets, prevailing 16-12.

Leading 12-0 at halftime, two penalty goals to Keiran Hayman was enough for the ladder leaders to hold on for the victory.

The Bears and Tigers will now both enjoy a bye next weekend while the Falcons will come in refreshed off a bye of their own and face the Western Clydesdales.
