Storm family digs deep raising $77K for Starlight

The Melbourne Storm family has once again dug deep, raising an incredible $77,000 for the Starlight Foundation – the highest figure the club has achieved for the children’s charity since the start of the partnership eight years ago.

The record-breaking amount will give 1963 kids access to the Starlight Express Rooms nation-wide or grant 10 Starlight wishes.

Storm’s fundraising effort kicked off with the generous support of the Solar Battery Group, SWYSH, Citipower and Grill’d donating a combined total of $55,000.

With SWYSH contributing 10% of all proceeds from personalised player messages purchased in July, there's still time grab your own message from a Storm star while brightening the lives of sick kids.

This year Storm made every try count as members and fans were encouraged to buy a virtual try, worth $4. All donations will be directed to help the Starlight Children’s Foundation deliver critical care to those who need it most.

Fans can still buy their virtual try here: https://buyatry.org.au/ and support Starlight. You'll also receive a $20 discount to get a personalised video message from an NRL star on SWYSH (You will receive the voucher code in the email receipt. Valid until 31 July 2025.)

With the club’s Round 20 clash against the Sydney Roosters dedicated to the cause, game day saw donations rise to new heights. Starlight volunteers with donation tins and selling wands around AAMI Park raised more than $14,000.

The wands helped members and fans to light up a blacked-out AAMI Park during “Starlight Under the Stars” powered by Solar Battery Group.

At halftime, Storm players Tristan Powell and Keagan Russell-Smith competed in a Convert for the Kids goalkicking competition thanks to Citipower. They successfully slotted five conversions, each worth $2000, to raise another $10,000.

Storm’s own contribution of $2000 and further donations from members and fans bring the final total to over $77,000.

This is the eighth year Melbourne Storm has partnered with the Starlight Children’s Foundation and thanks go once again to our partners, members and fans for your continued support.

Every dollar helps support Starlight's vision that everyone should experience a happy childhood because happiness matters.
