Grant confirms option to play 2026

Melbourne Storm captain Harry Grant (player #188) has taken up his player option to stay at Melbourne Storm until the end of the 2026 NRL season.

The two-time Dally M Hooker of the Year who made his debut for Melbourne in 2018, Grant has now played 101 NRL games, including 86 for Storm, and is the starting Hooker for Queensland in State of Origin and Australia in international rugby league.

In his first year of captaincy, the 26-year-old led Storm to the 2024 NRL Minor Premiership and the Grand Final. He was also named 2024 Dally M Hooker of the Year and vice-captain of the Kangaroos for the current Pacific Championships.

“It’s been an incredible year for the Club and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together over the next few years,” Grant said.

“It wasn’t a hard decision to make given the Club has put trust in me with the captaincy this season. We have a lot of natural leaders in the squad too which helps both on and off the field. The potential and depth of our roster really excites me.

“Everyone at the Club works so hard to give us a chance to play each week. We’re the lucky ones who get the chance to run out each week and play in front of our members and fans.”

Melbourne Storm CEO, Justin Rodski, said both Harry and the Club were happy to wait until after the season to finalise his contract arrangements.

“Harry has thrived in his role of captain both on and off the field and is a natural-born leader, whether working with the playing squad and coaches or with our admin staff and volunteers,” Rodski said.

“It will be exciting to see what this group of players can achieve with Harry as their skipper.”
