Matt Hill granted release

Melbourne Storm has released Jersey Flegg squad member Matt Hill from his contract to allow him to take up an opportunity with AFL club Hawthorn.

From the Northern Territory, Hill is a naturally gifted athlete with great aerial skills who played AFL as a junior. He has been a member of Storm Academy for the past two years and a member of the club’s First Nations Pathways Program.

Playing fullback, winger and centre over two seasons in Storm’s Jersey Flegg team, Hill scored 29 tries.

Storm Academy Coach Matt Duffie said: “ Matty is an extremely gifted athlete and I believe he has the skills to transition to AFL.

“I am sad to see him go as I think he could have progressed through our pathway into the NRL squad.

“I wish him and his family all the best.”
