Melbourne Storm CEO, Justin Rodski, issued the following statement following the announcement of Craig Bellamy and Frank Ponissi to the NSW Blues staff today.
“It is of little surprise that both Craig and Frank have been sounded out by NSW for these positions and the Club is very supportive of their appointments,” Rodski said.
“Frank was obviously part of the Blues series’ win this year, and we know that Craig will be of great value to Laurie and his coaching staff.
“The timing of our byes this season will give Craig the flexibility to spend time with the NSW team, without compromising his commitments to Storm, while Frank will be with the squad on a more regular basis.
“We are also very fortunate to have in place a group of assistant coaches who have been with Craig for a number of years and confident we can maintain our standards and consistency expected of our Club.
“We are extremely proud to have so many representatives involved in both the NSW and QLD programs, on and off the field, which is a great reflection on the people we have at our Club.” Rodski said.
Bellamy was announced as an adviser to new Blues coach, Laurie Daley, and will join his Storm Director of Football, who was again announced as Team Performance Manager following the Blues successful 2024 Origin Series win.
