Sunshine Coast Falcons, Brisbane Tigers and North Sydney Bears were all in action in Round 2 Queensland and NSW Cup competitions.
Sunshine Coast Falcons
The Sunshine Coast Falcons secured their first win of the 2025 season with a dominant performance against the Papua New Guinea Hunters on Saturday.
Grant Anderson was a standout for the home side, running 202 metres, making two line breaks, and scoring two late tries to put the icing on the cake for the Falcons.
The Falcons held a strong lead heading into halftime, up 18-6. After the break, with the help of Angus Hinchey and Grant Anderson, they continued their impressive first-half performance, keeping the Hunters scoreless in the second half.
Making his return from suspension, Nelson Asofa-Solomona got through a solid shift, playing 38 minutes across both halves.
The 28-6 victory for the Falcons has them sitting first on the Hostplus Cup ladder after two rounds.

Brisbane Tigers
The Tigers played their first game of the 2025 season after Round 1 was postponed due to Cyclone Alfred. They faced off against the Capras on Sunday afternoon.
The game went down to the wire, with both teams getting opportunities for penalty shots to win the contest with a last minute conversion allowed the Capras to secure a draw.
The first half saw both sides trading tries, with Coby Williamson breaking through the Capras' defence to level the score just before half-time.
The second half was another nail-biter, going end to end. Keagan Russell-Smith was a standout for the Tigers, contributing three conversions and two penalty goals.

North Sydney Bears
The North Sydney Bears played their second game of the 2025 season but fell to a dominant Bulldogs side, 46-28.
The Bulldogs burst out of the blocks with two early tries, but Bronson Garlick helped his side fight back with a try in the 19th minute.
Garlick worked tirelessly throughout the match, playing the full 80 minutes, making two line breaks, and scoring two tries. However, his efforts weren’t enough to get his side the win.
The Bulldogs proved too strong for the Bears, securing a convincing victory, with the final score 46-28.
The Bears will be aiming for their first win in Round 3 this weekend against the Western Suburbs Magpies.
