All three of Melbourne Storm's feeder teams were in action over the weekend for Round 3 of the Queensland and NSW Cup competitions.

Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Sunshine Coast Falcons fell to the Western Clydesdales on Saturday. Despite a slow start, the Falcons showed resilience in the second half but were unable to overcome the Clydesdales' early dominance, losing 14-24.

Lazarus Vaalepu and Angus Hinchey were standouts for Sunshine Coast, putting in strong performances, but their contributions weren't enough to secure the win.

As a result of the loss, the Falcons drop from first to fourth on the Hostplus Cup ladder.

Brisbane Tigers

The Tigers played their second game of the year on the weekend and despite a hard fought effort, went down to Ipswich Jets 20-34 on Saturday.

Brisbane struck first, scoring the opening try of the match and looking like the better side early on. However, Ipswich responded with four consecutive tries before Keagan Russell-Smith managed to pull one back for the Tigers just before half-time, keeping them in touch at 10-24.

Despite their efforts, the damage was done before the break, and Ipswich maintained control in the second half, adding two more tries. The Tigers could only manage one in response.

A positive from the match was the performance of Keagan Russell-Smith, who stood out with a tireless display, finishing with one try and two conversions.

Brisbane is still searching for their first win of the 2025 season and will be looking to bounce back this Sunday against the Papua New Guinea Hunters in Round 4.

North Sydney Bears

The North Sydney Bears faced the Western Suburbs Magpies on Saturday and looked the better side for much of the match, leading at half-time and scoring the first try after the break. However, the Magpies came out firing in the second half, scoring five unanswered tries, leaving the Bears unable to respond. They eventually fell 24-32.

Joe Chan, Bronson Garlick, and Marion Seve all featured, playing the full 80 minutes and working tirelessly throughout the match.

North Sydney now sits at 0-3 to start the season and will be seeking their first win this weekend when they take on the undefeated St George Illawarra Dragons.
