Feeder Report: Round 5

All three of Melbourne Storm's feeder teams were in action over the weekend for Round 5 of the Queensland and NSW Cup competitions.

North Sydney Bears 

The North Sydney Bears faced the Penrith Panthers on Saturday, starting strong with two early tries and going into half-time with a 22-6 lead.

However, Penrith came out firing after the break, applying heavy pressure on the Bears. Despite this, North Sydney had done enough in the first half, and their tough defensive sets in the final stages secured a narrow 26-24 win.

Joe Chan played the full 80 minutes for the Bears, contributing with a crucial try. His experience was invaluable in the latter stages, helping his side hold on for the win.

The Bears will want to continue their form this Saturday when they take on the Rabbitohs.

Sunshine Coast Falcons 

The Sunshine Coast Falcons were defeated by the Brisbane Tigers on Sunday. After a slow start the Falcons spent much of the game chasing the Tigers, but came out stronger in the second half, scoring two quick tries to take the lead. However, the Tigers regained their momentum, scoring two late tries to seal a 26-18 victory.

Angus Hinchey made an impact off the bench in the second half, delivering solid defensive efforts, though it wasn’t enough to swing the result in the Falcons' favour.

The Falcons will be back in action this Saturday, hosting the Norths Devils at 5:00pm at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
